Imagine if the Ramones were still alive and kicking ten bells of crap out of their set today. Meet the Ramonas.

Desire, effort, discipline, practice, attitude and a determination to hone their skills have made the Ramonas what they are today, and what they are is one hell of a band. The idea is a simple one. Tunes by The Ramones, played blisteringly fast by an all female tribute band.

There is so much energy and fun present that when Cloey, Rohnny, Pee Pee and Cammy hit the stage the audience cannot help but be sucked in by the vortex of noise-sum melody. You can be cynical and fail to enjoy many a gig, but most people would be hard pressed to suppress a smile when a band with this much commitment and intensity strut their stuff.

Strip away the extraneous material and you are left with the fundamentals. The warm fuzzy succinct garage Punk that catapulted The Ramones onto the scene back in the 1970's, when The Eagles and a hundred and One middle of the road AOR bands dominated the airwaves, has lost none of it's potency when left in the capable hands of this band.

Their enthusiasm and attention to detail bonds them as a unit but never dictates their dynamics into becoming a uniform soulless reproduction, in fact it makes you feel as an audience member, less of an innocent bystander, and more a part of their mission.

The Ramones always sounded like a young band and that may go some way to explaining the enthusiastic way so many people (some of whom you have to assume may never of even heard the band and only heard 'of ' them) have co-opted the ethos or tried to appropriate some of that cool by buying the T-Shirt.

The Ramonas are also purveyors of that same relentless bubblegum energy where an economy of style never detracts from the hooks, chants and melodies that awaken so much affection in the fans.

Joey Ramone once said

"For me, Punk is about real feelings.It's not about, 'Yeah, I am a punk and I'm angry.' That's a lot of crap. It's about loving the things that really matter: passion, heart and soul"

If that is any barometer of intent then you have to say that The Ramonas have lived up to the storm that blew out of America all those years ago.
